A Yamask! Those are... actually not that uncommon. Not common normally, but the start of fall brought these out by the droves usually. Perhaps they too feel the nature of the season and the holiday? Grigori tossed a ball at the creature and asked himself if the Pokémon knew the concept of 'Halloween' if they had never been introduced to the concept.

It felt right to believe so. After all, Pokémon and Humans have been intertwined in their fates for... who even knows how long? And with all the events that had transpired in the last half decade or so, they'd only get closer. For better or for worse. Men smarter than him probably knew the answers, but he did not. And that's what made it so interesting to think about.

But back onto the important thing. He walked over to the fallen Poke Ball, collected his newly found Yamask, and ventured further on. What else aly in the tall, thick grass?

"Shoo, shoo, please!" Grigori said as he batted at the curios Zubat. These were far from uncommon. If anything, they were one of the few constants in life. Would Zubat be placed above or below taxes? Above, surely. This creature was surely around before the concept of money even became a thing. A pokemon best viewed from a distance, and the distance preferably had a couple walls between them.

Finally, Grigori clipped its wing with a powerful swipe. It lost height and nearly crashed into the ground. Thankfully, it barely managed to recover and fly back into the sky. It had learned its lesson and flew into the trees, on the hunt for another person to annoy or some insects to consume.

Murkrow were very common to these lands as well, but probably for different reasons. Grigori always felt their presence wherever he walked, in Kanto as well as here. Among the trees, perched in power lines. Their call just another background noised tuned out during the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

A more skeptical and symbolic man would claim that the Grim Reaper follows wherever he dare tread, a terrible omen to his life. Or a sign that he was a member of Team Rocket; the Honchkrow they evolved into perfectly fit the bit for what a member of such an organization would look like, if they were Pokémon themselves.

The answer was much simpler to him, though, as he pulled out a few berries from his pocket. At a young age, he'd learn which ones to eat and which ones to avoid. Perfect things to give to the stray Pokémon he could never bring home but wanted the attention of.

An underhanded swing sent a couple Oran berries into the grass ahead. The Murkrow cocked its head curiously at Grigori. The man stepped back a few steps. That was enough to get it to swoop down and hop around in the grass. Its beak stabbed into the earth, a bright blue berry shown each time.

But not what he thought was so mysterious of the Safari Zone this time around. He waved casually at the bird and gave it a wide berth as he continued on.

Skipping Murkrow, 2/3 Safari Balls

This must surely be what the rumors spoke of. A small insect, with eight legs and a massive ball of twine that covered its abdomen. Thought to be exclusive to Paldea (but perhaps brought and smuggled over, Grigori grimly considered), but recently spotted in the region. He'd only heard reports of the small creatures existing here, but to see one in a 'natural' habitat was...

Exhilarating. Sure, all it was doing at the moment amounted to 'hanging from a tree branch with its eyes lazily scanning its surroundings', but that was something in it of itself. Such a relaxed attitude meant it felt relaxed. Enough to sit still in a theoretical danger zone. Perhaps the grounds only held the Pokémon seen thus previously. Surely the Murkrow annoyed these things to no end, but they'd yet to approach.

Unfortunately for the creature, Grigori quietly pulled out a ball and quickly chucked it directly at the web. It could not physically avoid the ball, and thus was captured inside. The ball submitted to gravity and collapsed onto the ground. This would surely make someone happy, if not him.

It was him.

Cute, but exceedingly common. That, or Team Rocket just had a fascination with these creatures. Not that Grigori could blame them as one ran up to him and headbutt his leg. Thankfully, it was not an actual attack but a playful ram. "Why hello there, little one."

He carefully knelt down and tentatively placed a hand on its head. It then headbutts his hand. Even cuter. Soft fur covered its body, black as night and in complementation with the soft blue body. Deino fully embraced the newfound feeling of a 'pet'. Its body vibrated almost violently. 

"Oh, aren't you a lovable one?" Grigori produced the last of his berries and gave the small creature slowly. Each shape disappeared into its mouth quickly, a vacuum that sucked the last few from his hand on its own. Deino kicked its legs fervently and pranced in a circle. Maybe he should capture this little one instead.

Unfortunately, that idea died rather fast. A distant roar rustled the leaves on the trees. The Deino looked over to the source of the sound, far away but a clear sign. Its mother must've been worried sick. It wasted no time and scurried back into the trees. Grigori waved it goodbye. 

But he did not want to tussle with a Hydreigon right now. Especially a mother. Surely he would find the true reason for the rumors here.

This was it? Grigori snatched the Gimmighoul before it could scurry off. It must’ve been too focused on its signature cold coin to notice his presence, but that was a two way street. He would’ve surely missed it if the sun didn’t reflect off said coin. Tough luck.

It pulled on the coin in some desperate attempt to free itself and the coin, but it might as well have tried to lift a mountain. Should he feel bad for this? Hard to say. The way its small body dangled in the air and its twig arms flexed their miniscule muscles to get back its coin was charming, in a way.

Mean, but charming. Didn’t they like to run away and hide? Grigori held out the last Safari Ball and put the Gimmighoul right on top. This was the advantage it needed to finally—

The tiny creature disappeared with a flash of white light, coin and all. Shred’s Gholdengo would have a new, exotic friend to hang out with.
